If necessary, select the checkboxes to enable support for Asian languages (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) and support for CCTL (complex text layout) languages such as Hindi, Thai, Hebrew, and Arabic. If you choose either of these checkboxes, the next time you open this dialog, you will see some extra choices under Language Settings, as shown below. Jul 07, 2017  Oddly enough, East Asian Languages preferences is visible in PowerPoint, but not in Word. Info: Office for Mac 2016 15.35 on macOS Sierra 10.12.5 This thread is locked. Microsoft Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) is a cloud-based email filtering service that helps protect your organization against unknown malware and viruses by providing robust zero-day protection, and includes features to safeguard your organization from harmful links in real time. ATP has rich reporting and URL trace capabilities that give administrators insight into the kind of attacks happening in your organization.

The following are the primary ways you can use ATP for message protection:

  • In an Office 365 ATP filtering-only scenario, ATP provides cloud-based email protection for your on-premises Exchange Server environment or any other on-premises SMTP email solution.

  • Office 365 ATP can be enabled to protect Exchange Online cloud-hosted mailboxes. To learn more about Exchange Online, see the Exchange Online service description.

  • In a hybrid deployment, ATP can be configured to protect your messaging environment and control mail routing when you have a mix of on-premises and cloud mailboxes with Exchange Online Protection for inbound email filtering.

Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) capabilities

Safe Attachments

ATP Safe Attachments protects against unknown malware and viruses, and provides zero-day protection to safeguard your messaging system. All messages and attachments that don't have a known virus/malware signature are routed to a special environment where ATP uses a variety of machine learning and analysis techniques to detect malicious intent. If no suspicious activity is detected, the message is released for delivery to the mailbox.

Note

ATP Safe Attachments scanning takes place in the same region where your Office 365 data resides. For more information about data center geography, see Where is your data located?

Safe Links

The ATP Safe Links feature proactively protects your users from malicious URLs in a message or in an Office document. The protection remains every time they select the link, as malicious links are dynamically blocked while good links can be accessed.

Safe Links is available for URLs in the following apps:

  • Office 365 ProPlus on Windows or Mac

  • Office for the web (Word for the web, Excel for the web, PowerPoint for the web, and OneNote for the web)

  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio on Windows, as well as Office apps on iOS and Android devices

Note

Users must be licensed for ATP*, must be included in ATP Safe Links policies, and must be signed in on their devices for protection to be in place.

* For organization-wide ATP licenses (for example, ATP_ENTERPRISE_FACULTY), you don't need to assign ATP licenses to individual users.

For more information about ATP Safe Links protection, see How ATP Safe Links works with URLs in Office documents.

ATP for SharePoint, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams

ATP for SharePoint, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams helps detect and block files that are identified as malicious in team sites and document libraries.

Anti-phishing policies

ATP anti-phishing checks incoming messages for indicators that a message might be a phishing attempt. When users are covered by ATP policies (Safe Attachments, Safe Links, or anti-phishing), incoming messages are evaluated by multiple machine learning models that analyze messages and the appropriate action is taken, based on the configured policies.

Real-time reports

Monitoring capabilities available in the Office 365 Security & Compliance Center include real-time reports and insights that let your security and compliance administrators focus on high-priority issues, such as security attacks or increased suspicious activity. In addition to highlighting problem areas, smart reports and insights include recommendations and links to view and explore data and also take quick actions.

Threat Trackers

Threat Trackers are informative widgets and views that provide authorized users with intelligence on cybersecurity issues that might impact your organization.

Explorer

Explorer (also referred to as Threat Explorer) is a real-time report that lets authorized users identify and analyze recent threats. By default, this report shows data for the past 7 days; however, views can be modified to show data for the past 30 days.

For more information about Explorer (in Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection Plan 2) and real-time detections (in Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection Plan 1), see Threat Explorer (and real-time detections).

Automated incident response

Automated incident response (AIR) capabilities available in Office 365 ATP Plan 2 enable you to run automated investigation processes in response to well known threats that exist today. By automated certain investigation tasks, your security operations team can operate more efficiently and effectively. Remediation actions, such as deleting malicious email messages, are taken upon approval by your security operations team. To learn more, see How AIR works in Office 365.

Attack Simulator

Attack Simulator lets authorized users run realistic attack scenarios in your organization. Several different kinds of attacks are available, including a display name spear-phishing attack, a password-spray attack, and a brute-force password attack.

Office 365 ProPlus is the most productive and most secure Office experience for enterprises.

Learn more

Office 365 ProPlus, the cloud-connected version of Office, delivers the most productive and most secure Office experience—with the lowest total cost of ownership for deployment and management. However, for customers who aren’t ready for the cloud, Office 2019 provides new features and updates to the on-premises apps for both users and IT professionals. Like Windows Long Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) releases, Office 2019 provides a set of valuable enhancements for customers who can’t be cloud-connected or receive regular updates.

The new enhancements in Office 2019 are a subset of a long list of features that have been added to Office 365 ProPlus over the last three years. Office 2019 is a one-time release and won’t receive future feature updates. However, we’ll continue to add new features to Office 365 ProPlus monthly, including innovations in collaboration, artificial intelligence (AI), security, and more.

Office 2019 delivers features across apps to help users create amazing content in less time. In PowerPoint 2019, you can create cinematic presentations with new features like Morph and Zoom. And improved inking features across the apps in Windows—like the roaming pencil case, pressure sensitivity, and tilt effects—allow you to naturally create documents.

Excel 2019 adds powerful new data analysis features, including new formulas and charts and enhancements to PowerPivot.

Word 2019 and Outlook 2019 help you focus on what matters most. Learning Tools, like Read Aloud and Text Spacing, make it easier to engage with your content. Focus Mode blocks out distractions and puts your content front and center. And Focused Inbox moves less important emails out of the way—so you can get straight to taking care of business. For a longer list of the new features in Office 2019, see our FAQs.

Office 2019 also includes new IT value for enhanced security and streamlined administration. We introduced Click-to-Run (C2R), a modern deployment technology, in Office 2013, and it’s now used to deploy and update Office across hundreds of millions of devices worldwide. With Office 2019, we’re moving the on-premises versions of Office to C2R to reduce costs and improve security. The advantages of C2R include predictable monthly security updates, up-to-date apps on installation, reduced network consumption through Windows 10 download optimization technology, and an easy upgrade path to Office 365 ProPlus. C2R offers the same enterprise-focused management capabilities as Microsoft Installer (MSI) based products and will also support an in-place upgrade when you move to Office 2019 from older MSI-based products. To learn more, refer to the Office 2019 Click-to-Run FAQ.

The 2019 release of Office products also includes updates to our servers, and in the coming weeks, we will release Exchange Server 2019, Skype for Business Server 2019, SharePoint Server 2019, and Project Server 2019.

Office 2019 is a valuable update for customers who aren’t yet ready for the cloud. And each time we release a new on-premises version of Office, customers ask us if this will be our last. We’re pleased to confirm that we’re committed to another on-premises release in the future. While the cloud offers real benefits in productivity, security, and total cost of ownership, we recognize that each customer is at a different point in their adoption of cloud services. We see the on-premises version of Office as an important part of our commitment to give customers the flexibility they need to move to the cloud at their own pace.

  • Commercial volume-licensed (trusted) customers can access Office 2019 starting today.
